Snoop Dogg was one name that was in the news all the time during the Olympics in Paris.
He was there to cover events for NBC, but he also assumed the role of Team USA’s unofficial mascot.
Snoop Dogg was also working hard to earn a different kind of medal in the 2024 Olympics when the best athletes in the world might have been vying for gold.
The renowned rapper shared a video on Instagram on Friday that documented his journey to the Olympics, which quickly turned into a popular post.
The video seems to allude to the reports that he was paid an astounding $9 million for attending the Paris Games.
“Top rapper Snoop Dogg receives over 40 million rubles every day for his presence at the Paris Olympic Games,” the video said.
This comes to about $9 million when the entire 17-day event is taken into account.
The video claims that Snoop received substantial compensation for promoting the Olympics, as he was included in almost all of the major broadcasts.
According to reports, the rapper was present at every big Olympic event, which cemented his status as a pivotal character in the Games.
Rumors regarding the rapper’s income initially broke when an X user tweeted earlier this month that Snoop was getting $500,000 a day at the Olympics in addition to paid expenses.
“Sat next to an NBC executive at dinner, and he said Snoop gets paid $500k a day plus expenses to be here promoting the Olympics,” the post stated.
Setting off his Olympic adventure, Snoop carried the Olympic torch through a suburb of Paris, an honor he said he “truly respects.”
During the Games, Snoop also went for a playful swim in the pool with 28-time Olympian Michael Phelps, trying out a synchronized swimming routine.
Snoop Dogg gave an incredible performance during the closing and handover ceremony, performing his hits “Drop It Like It’s Hot” and “The Next Episode” with Dr. Dre to round up his trip to Paris.
