Pras, a member of the Fugees, has released a new diss track about Lauryn Hill, following her cancellation of an aspect of her world tour.
Lauryn Hill and The Fugees were scheduled to kick off their world tour last Friday, August 9, 2024, in Tampa, Florida, and were scheduled to continue to the United States until September 21, 2024, before touring the UK and Europe in October.
However, three days before the first scheduled show, the band canceled the US leg of the tour.
Lauryn Hill later blamed the media’s “sensationalism” around previous shows and other reasons, including low ticket sales for the cancellation.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, August 7, the singer confirmed that low ticket sales informed the move but assured fans that her planned United Kingdom and Europe tour dates would still happen as planned.
“With difficulty, the decision was made to pull down our upcoming North American tour dates. The shows in the UK and Europe are moving forward as planned,” she said.
Pras’ song, titled Bar Mitzfa, was teased on his Instagram Story, and he added a message:
“No one will remember: clickbait beefs, how many Gucci bags you owned, bogus excuses. People will remember: How you made them feel, if you kept your word, if they could count on you, if you come on Time!” he wrote.
In the rock-rap track, available in sections of the media, Pras, known officially as Prakazrel Samuel Michel, aired some frustrations, saying: “Don’t blame me, blame her, she made the mess…”
The song was reportedly recorded on the heels of low ticket sales, shutting down the legendary hip-hop trio’s reunion plans.
This recent tour cancellation followed the cancellation of shows dedicated to Lauryn’s ‘Miseducation’ last November.
Lauryn Hill, at the time, cited “serious vocal strain for the past month”. She had since returned to performing with a handful of shows across February, March and April this year including a slot at Coachella music festival.
