A beloved Houston, Texas, rapper and music producer, BeatKing, has died at the age of 39, according to his manager.
The musician and music producer whose real name is Justin Riley also went by the name ClubGodzilla.
The rapper is best known for his viral 2020 TikTok hit, Then Leave, for which the rapper gained international attention.
Details surrounding his death are unknown at this time, but his Manager, Tasha Felder (Super_manager) confirmed his passing in an Instagram post.
The post said, ‘Today, August 15, 2024, we have lost ClubGodzilla.
BeatKing has been the best part of the Houston Texas club for over a decade.
‘He has produced and worked with so many artists that his sound will forever live.
He loved his daughters, his music, and his fans. We will love him forever.’
However, according to TMZ, they have learned what caused his death.
The outlet says that a rep for the rapper told the outlet BeatKing passed away in a Houston hospital Thursday after suffering a pulmonary embolism.
The outlet also claims that the rapper was doing a morning takeover at the Urban One/Radio One station when he fainted and was rushed to a nearby hospital.
He passed away later that same day with his two daughters by his side.
The rep is said to have added, “It is truly sad; we loved him so much.”
BeatKing’s rep further went on to address the artist’s death with a poignant tribute Thursday night, remembering her client as “the best part of the club for over a decade.”
She went on to write that “he has produced and worked with so many artists that his sound will forever live. He loved his daughters, @clubgodparenting, his music, and his fans. We will [love] him forever.”
But before his big internet break, BeatKing was a well-known face in the Texas party scene.
BeatKing music is said to be a turntable favorite that is often played at clubs and college parties.
His other hits include “SDAB,” which featured 2 Chainz and Juicy J, “Outside,” and “Keep It Poppin” feat. Ludacris and Queendom Come.
Before his untimely death, BeatKing was mostly seen hanging with Drake, but it’s unclear if the 2 rappers were working on a collaboration.
