On Tuesday, July 30, a star-studded audience attended Spotify’s exclusive viewing of “The Gold Standard,” an art exhibition honoring the biggest female hip-hop artistes.

Manon Biernacki, the artist responsible for the portraits of Cardi B, Megan Thee Stallion, Doja Cat, Ice Spice, Saweetie, GloRilla, and the City Girls, was another highlight of the evening.

At The Hole Gallery in New York City, Latto, Sexyy Red, and Flo Milli all showed up to interact with their fans and take pictures next to their images.

What is Spotify’s “The Gold Standard” Exhibit About?

A video showcasing a preview of the exhibit was posted on TikTok earlier this week by Spotify’s official account.

The description of the clip read: The exhibition is a “fine art show dedicated to the current golden era of women in hip-hop,” according to the company’s explanation.

The caption also said that the public would be able to view the exhibit, which is located in New York City.

Sexyy Red, Flo Milli, and Latto were reportedly among the first featured musicians to visit the exhibit.

Spotify posted a video of them each seeing their photographs for the first time on Instagram on Thursday, August 1.

“A selection of scenes from The Gold Standard Exhibition showcases exquisite portrayals of the women who are raising the standard in hip-hop. Oh, and some of the subjects pulled up,” the company writes in the Instagram post’s description.

Social Media Reacts

Following the debut of Spotify’s “gold standard” exhibit, which celebrates women in hip-hop who are “setting the bar,” people on social media are expressing their reactions. Screenshots of various reactions on X are shown below:

Not just Spotify has been under fire lately for paying tribute to female rap artistes. After Billboard released its list of the ten “hottest female rappers right now” in June social media users reacted to the list, discussing the ladies that were featured and where they stood on Billboard’s rating.
