Powerful Performance: Ayra Starr Makes Debut Appearance On US Television

Afrobeats star, Ayra Starr, performed two songs from his trendy new album when she made her debut appearance on the Tonight Show in the United States on Tuesday.

As always, she was on top of her game as she delivered a live and soothing rendition of Last Heartbreak Song and Woman Commando after host Jimmy Fallon introduced her.

The performance which had since circulated online attracted commendation from her fans worldwide, with some describing it as a “beautiful performance from a superstar.”

“She killed it…she wasn’t there to play at all…Breath control, dancing, singing, she deserves her followers,” a follower wrote.

Ayra Starr trended early this month after getting a new hairstyle and endorsements for The Year I Turned 21 album which continues to soar on streaming platforms.

The project arrived on Friday, May 31, 2024, after the Sability hitmaker held a listening session in Paris, France, weeks before the official release.

A music video for Last Heartbreak Song, a melody off the album, has reached 7.8 million views on YouTube. Early this month, Ayra told her fans she was “recovering from health issues” but appreciated the love that continued to pour in for the album.

Celestial Being, as she has been nicknamed, was also the cover girl for the July edition of the Hunger magazine published by British photographer Rankin.

Radiant-looking Ayra was on the cover of the publication with sunglasses, wearing a Hugo-branded top and jeans with a silver wig cap. In a related photo, she spotted an all-black dress with a padlock and keys stringed around her waist with her hand on her cheek

Noted for wearing mini-skirts, mainly to her performances, her outlook on the cover of the magazine made her fans appreciate her style from a different perspective.

The publication highlighted aspects of the Commas hitmaker, who continued to make waves with the album. According to an independent monitoring platform, the streaming figures for the project had reached 400 million on Spotify alone.

According to the tally, this achievement made the project the most-streamed Nigerian album in 2024, and the 13th most-streamed Nigerian project of all time.
