Afrobeats sensation, King Promise has released his highly anticipated third studio album, titled True To Self.
Before announcing the album, he had released the single titled Favourite Story featuring Ghanaian rapper Sarkodie and another fast-rising star, Olive The Boy.
Fans have been looking forward to the new project until it was let out of the bag on midnight Friday, June 14, 2024.
“Beyond proud to announce, my new album True To self…Big love and respect for everyone who helped work on this and brought my crazy ideas to life. This is for you guys. Enjoy this special body of work made with love & truth. Go crazy with it and stay true to self,” the Terminator hitmaker wrote on his timeline.
In addition to some previously released singles, the album has titles like Believe, Continental, Permission Granted, Paris, Paranoid, Ringing in My Head, Own It.
King Promise grabbed three awards at the Telecel Ghana Music Awards for Afropop Song of the Year, Afrobeat/Afropop Artiste of the Year, and Most Popular Song of the Year.
This accomplishment gives him a push as one of the leading figures in contemporary music, and is celebrated for his ability to blend Ghanaian Highlife, Afrobeats, and R&B.
His talent first gained recognition in 2017 with the breakout single Oh Yeah, which was followed by his debut album As Promised, in 2019. The album featured renowned artists such as Raye and Wizkid.
Building on that success, he worked on his second studio album 5 Star, with artistes including Omah Lay, Headie One, Chance The Rapper, and others.
In April this year, the Afrobeat icon embarked on an Asia Tour, pulling huge crowds to his concerts in cities including Singapore and Jakarta. His show-stopping performance at Tipsy Unicorn Beach House in Singapore is still fresh on the minds of many of his fans.
