American actor Will Smith has finally broken his silence after Jada Pinkett Smith’s recent revelations about their marriage.
Will Smith’s wife Jada Pinkett recently disclosed that they had been living separate lives since 2016. For this reason, Jada said she was surprised when Will slapped comedian Chris Rock on stage at the 2022 Academy Awards for making a joke about her alopecia.
Speaking in a recent interview with Hoda Kotb, Jada Pinkett admitted that she was taken aback when Will Smith referred to her as his wife because he had not done that in a long while.
“Why it fractured…that — that’s a lot of things … By the time we got to 2016, we were just exhausted with trying. I think we were both kind of just still stuck in our fantasy of what we thought the other person should be,” TODAY quoted her as saying.
Will Smith pens touching letter to Jada
Reacting to Jada’s revelations, Will Smith has penned a letter to express his support and love for his wife. The actor indicated that despite their separation, his love for her remains constant and unconditional.
He stressed that their decision to live separate lives did not diminish the deep bond and connection they shared as a family.
He added that he was filled with mixed feelings when he read Jada’s memoir, which documents their separation and struggles.
“I applaud and honor you. If I had read this book 30 years ago, I definitely would’ve hugged you more,” Shetty read. “I’ll start now. Welcome to the authors’ club. I love you endlessly. Now go get some Merlot and take a rest,” parts of the letter read.
Jada and Will Smith’s love story
Jada Pinkett and Will Smith’s love story began in the mid-1990s when they met on the set of the popular television series “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.”
At the time, Will Smith was a rising star in Hollywood, while Jada Pinkett, who was once close to Tupac, was making a name for herself.
The two quickly formed a deep connection and became close friends. Despite their chemistry, it wasn’t until a few years later that their romantic relationship blossomed.
In 1997, the couple tied the knot in a private ceremony at a hotel in Baltimore, Maryland.
