Celebrated singer Celine Dion says she is determined to get back on stage despite struggling with her health condition.
In an interview with NBC Television, she stressed that she will do everything to get back on her feet even if she has to crawl.
Asked what the disease took away from her, she replied: “It didn’t take anything away from me….I’m going to go back on stage even if I have to crawl, even if I have to talk with my hands, I will.”
The My Heart Will Go On singer was diagnosed with the neurological disorder Stiff-Person Syndrome in 2022. It causes muscle spasms and difficulty breathing and walking
Celine spoke extensively about the condition and other issues related to her coming documentary.
It will be recalled the singer attended an NHL game at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, making her first public appearance in about four years while battling the condition.
She went to watch the match between her hometown team, the Montreal Canadiens, and the Las Vegas Golden Knights — with her three sons, 22-year-old René-Charles and 13-year-old twins Eddy and Nelson.
After the game, she spoke to the Canadiens team, advising them on how to persevere and maintain their health, in addition to shaking hands and posing for photos.
Her documentary I Am: Celine Dion will go live on Prime Video on June 25, 2024.
It will be available to global viewers and promise a “raw and honest” look at the superstar’s battle with Stiff Person Syndrome.
It would “highlight the music that has guided [Céline Dion’s] life while also showcasing the resilience of the human spirit,” a statement from Amazon MGM Studios said. The film is directed by Academy Award nominee Irene Taylor.
Stiff Person Syndrome is said to affect one in a million people.
In December 2022, the I’m Alive hitmaker revealed that she had been diagnosed with a rare neurological illness, saying the journey from discovering the condition to learning how to live with and manage it had been challenging. Still, it would not “define” her.
