Producer and music executive Pharrell Williams has put out a new movie trailer based on his career, which will be available in cinemas later in October this year.

The project titled Piece By Piece, according to producers, will follow the rise of the prolific artiste and “recreate monumental moments in his life.”

The narrative which will premiere on October 18, 2024, will capture Pharrell’s time in the group “The Neptunes, when he worked with the likes of Chad Hugo, Snoop Dogg, Gwen Stefani, and others.

Piece By Piece was directed by the acclaimed Morgan Neville – the mastermind behind award-winning documentaries such as 20 Feet From Stardom (2013) and Won’t You Be My Neighbor? (2018).

Pharrell Williams also served as an executive producer for the production company that co-produced the movie. The trailer of the animation opens with the musician narrating aspects his career highlights, and how some people did not believe in him from the start.

Speaking about the project in an interview, Pharrell said he was “humbled” by the success of his 2013 singles, Happy (from the soundtrack for the movie Despicable Me 2), and smash hit Get Lucky, featuring Daft Punk.

Piece By Piece is described as “a documentary, a biopic, an animated movie, and a musical.” The Happy hitmaker described the director of the movie as one who “really knows how to paint with emotion and with vulnerability.”

Director Neville also said Piece By Piece was more than a display of Williams’ life story, but “a tale many can relate to.” The production will be released several months after the fashionista and music maker, collaborated with Miley Cyrus, on the single, Doctor (Work It Out). That music video gained more than one million hits on YouTube in less than 24 hours after it was released. Williams and Miley Cyrus had previously worked on Come Get It Bae, released in 2014.
