Renowned television personality, entrepreneur, and record executive, Simon Cowell, who played a key role in discovering One Direction on The X Factor UK in 2010, is searching for the next big boy band.
The reality show judge will choose the next big boy band via auditions, and Box to Box Films will record the process for a “potential documentary series.”
Simon will search for possible band members to go through a boy band boot camp by hosting open-call auditions around the United Kingdom.
“Every generation deserves a megastar boyband and I don’t think there has been one to have the success of One Direction in over 14 years. The industry tends to focus on solo artists – so it usually takes someone from outside to put a group together,” he stated.
“There’s always a high degree of risk, and I genuinely have no idea what’s going to happen! We might uncover an incredible group, but we might not get there. What if no one shows up to auditions? That could be awkward. There is no guaranteed path to success – anything can happen, but that’s what’s exciting for me, and that’s why I’m doing this,” Simon added.
Next month, auditions will occur in Newcastle, Dublin, Liverpool, and London, England. The prospective docuseries has not yet been linked to a streaming platform.
