After being made fun of in a recent episode of the long-running animated series South Park, Lizzo seemed to take the joke in stride.
The 36-year-old musician was made fun of in the enduring adult cartoon South Park: The End of Obesity on May 24.
Lizzo responded to the joke honestly, as was to be expected, expressing her happy surprise. In a video that she shared on social media, Lizzo can be heard saying:
“Guys, my worst fear has come true. An episode of ‘South Park’ made mention of me. I’m really afraid.” she said in the opening of a TikTok video.
“Lizzo” is promoted in the episode as an inexpensive substitute for semaglutide, such as Ozempic, as Eric Cartman (Trey Parker) finds them to be somewhat costly if insurance does not cover the expense.
To which his doctor replies by prescribing “Lizzo.” During the special, there is a voiceover that was heard saying:
“FDA-approved Lizzo makes you feel good about your weight, and it costs 90 percent less than Ozempic.”
The narrator added, “In case studies, seventy percent of patients stopped caring about their weight while taking Lizzo. Lizzo makes it easy to overindulge in food and minimize activity.”
Lizzo gasps in her reaction video as she watches the parody advertisement. She exclaims, “That’s crazy!”
“It seems like I’m actually that b*tch. “I truly am that b*tch. I really showed the world how to love yourself and not give a f*ck, to the point where these men in Colorado know who the f*ck I am and put it on their cartoon that’s been around for 25 years.”
The vocalist then finishes her own version of the “Oh, Oh, Oh, Ozempic” song, which is the commercial’s jingle.
Naturally, Lizzo has long been a pioneer of the body positivity movement, which promotes self-love regardless of one’s size or form.
On the other hand, Lizzo has disclosed in recent months that she is shifting toward a more body-neutral perspective.
In March, the singer spoke with The New York Times.
“The state has changed to body neutrality. I refuse to pretend that I adore my body on a daily basis. The truth is, your perception of your body is constantly shifting.”
Lizzo revealed to the Times that she has lost some weight as a result of changing her diet.
“I’ve been losing weight very slowly, methodically,” she remarked.
