Kelly Rowland, a seasoned American singer, claims that she encountered discrimination on the Cannes red carpet and that she got into a misunderstanding with a female security officer after she “stood her ground.”

The former member of Destiny’s Child is shown in a widely shared video getting into what seems to be a furious argument with a security guard as they make their way up the stairs to the theater at the Marcello Mio movie premiere.

Rowland continued her speech by discussing the situation at the amfAR gala in Cannes, when celebrities Demi Moore and Cher among others supported the funding of AIDS research.

The renowned singer, 43, said that other female attendees “who did not quite look like me and they didn’t get scolded or pushed off or told to get off” were there at the event.

At Tuesday night’s premiere, as Kelly was posing for photos in a strapless red gown, an incident broke out.

In the video, Rowland, 43, is seen waving and having her photo taken with the security officer holding up her arms to help her up the stairs. At that moment, Rowland seems furious and waves her finger at the staff member.

The argument continued up the stairs, and as Rowland left the building, he turned to address the guard. All of this happened in front of a large group of fans who were watching the whole thing happen.

“The woman knows what happened. I know what happened. And, I have a boundary. And I stand by those boundaries and that is it. There were other women who attended that carpet, who did not quite look like me, and they didn’t get scolded or pushed off or told to get off. I stood my ground. And she felt she had to stand hers, but I stood my ground and that was it, ” Rowland stated.
