It is reported that Jamie Foxx is producing a documentary on Luther Vandross’s legendary career.
The documentary, Never Too Much, is also said to have found a home at OWN and CNN Films, where it will premiere in 2025.
Following the movie’s Sundance Film Festival premiere, the transaction was finalized on Wednesday, May 15, according to IndieWire.
Director Dawn Porter sent a statement to the publication: “I’m thrilled to partner again with CNN Films and OWN to bring this film to audiences.”
“We are eager for all of Luther’s new and old fans to witness his genius. His music is ageless, and his legacy is unparalleled.”
One of the producing organizations for the movie is Foxx’s Foxhole Productions, which is listed alongside Raindog Films in collaboration with Trilogy Films.
Dawn Porter will direct the picture, which Jamie Foxx will produce through his entertainment firm Foxxhole Productions and Colin Firth’s Raindog Films.
Sony Music Publishing and the Premium Content Division of Sony Music Entertainment (SME) will also be engaged.
Foxx declared at the time, “Luther Vandross is one of our G.O.A.T.s. He is among the best vocalists in music history. Being a member of the team that helps tell this amazing narrative to the public is a true honor.”
“Like so many others, I have always loved Luther’s music, but I had no idea of the breadth and scope of his artistry.”
“I believe that the amount of work he managed to achieve in his terribly brief life will astonish many. Being able to tell his real tale is a pleasure,” Porter reportedly noted.
