The Williams sisters have never failed to make headlines when it comes to tennis. This time around, the one making headlines in the family is their dad, Richard Williams following his divorce case.
According to court filings, he has been attempting to divorce his wife Lakeisha since he learned that she had purportedly falsified his signature on the title deeds in order to “steal” his four-bedroom home in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, which has been in the Williams family since 1995.
However, Lakeisha filed a move to dismiss the divorce in June of last year, claiming again in January that Richard was acting under coercion from a third party.
Up until today, Richard has refused to back down from a divorce.
Even though the last few years have been terrible for aging Richard, losing” his mansion is just the tip of the iceberg.
Court documents revealed that Lakeisha had previously forged Richard’s signature in order to sell his $45,000 1999 Bluebird Wanderlodge Motor Coach.
She said the money was used to purchase food for herself and their ten-year-old son, Dylan.
In a deposition in court, she stated, “Mainly, I was broke by my husband [who] did not help me. It was my son, and I was not getting any money, so I had to sell it so I could eat and my son could eat. We didn’t have anything.”
It is said that Lakeisha stole money in addition to Richard’s Mercedes, bus, and motorcycle – and for a plethora of things, she either faked or obtained documents.
According to court documents, Lakeisha stated that she was living with Richard as a married couple until he unexpectedly delivered her “dissolution papers” in May 2017.
She further stated that she had no idea that Richard intended to file for divorce.
She disclosed in a deposition that he even kissed her and prayed with her in the morning on the day he filed the divorce petition.
“He actually came and kissed me that morning, the morning of the event, and he would always share with me to pray, you know, to always pray for our family,” she remarked.
It is wonderful news for Lakeisha, who was dealt a severe blow by the bankruptcy courts last week, that the divorce case was dismissed.
The former nightclub stripper lost her third attempt at filing for Chapter 13 bankruptcy after consistently missing payments to Simon totaling $10,000 a week.
The bankruptcy trustee’s request for the lawsuit to be dismissed without prejudice was granted by Judge Mindy Mora.
