Marking Mother’s Day on Sunday, May 12, superstar Shakira shared an adorable picture of herself and her two sons and added a heartwarming message for women across the world.
She said her children, Milan and Sasha, “nourish and complete” her life, as she thanked mothers who care and “fight” for their wards.
The Hips Don’t Lie singer, in her post on X (formally Twitter) also praised women having their children and those without any.
“Today I want to celebrate all the women who give and nourish life, because we all, with or without children, know how to care for and fight for those who depend on us.
“And to Milan and Sasha, the two sons of my life, thank you for illuminating it and completing me,” she wrote on her timeline.
The picture showed the family recording music, with Shakira on the guitar while the two boys were on the drums and guitar respectively.
Shakira began a relationship with Argentine lawyer Antonio de la Rúa in 2000 but they separated in 2010 in what they both described as “a mutual decision.”
In 2011, she started a relationship with football player Gerard Piqué after they met during the music video shoot for Waka Waka (This Time for Africa), the official song of the 2010 FIFA World Cup.
Shakira and Piqué gave birth to their first son, Milan, on 22 January 2013 in Barcelona, where the family took residence. Their second son, Sasha, arrived on 29 January 2015.
Starting November 2, this year, she will begin part one of the North America tour, dubbed: Women No Longer Cry tour.
Last month, she was one of the many performers who made a surprise appearance at the Coachella Valley Music and Art Festival which took off 12-14 April at the Empire Polo Club.
Shakira and Argentine DJ, Bizarrap, turned up the show with their lively act before she took the opportunity to announce her ‘La Mujeres Ya No Lloran’ (Women No Longer Cry) World Tour.
