Rapper and entrepreneur 50 Cent has stunned his fans with his dramatic weight loss, which he attributes to a surprising factor, abstinence.
The 48-year-old star, whose real name is Curtis Jackson, has been sharing pictures of his leaner body on Instagram, where he has over 27 million followers.
In one of his recent posts, he wrote: “I’m focused man, practising abstinence is helping me train harder. I feel great I think more people should try it.”
The caption accompanied a photo of him wearing a black hoodie and showing off his toned arms and abs.
The comment confirmed that 50 Cent is still following his abstinence pledge, which he announced at the beginning of the year.
On January 1, he posted a video of himself working out and said: “No alcohol, no smoking, and no sex. I’m getting fit for the new year.”
According to the Mayo Clinic, abstinence can have various benefits for physical and mental health, such as reducing the risk of sexually transmitted infections, preventing unwanted pregnancies, improving self-esteem, and enhancing relationships. However, there is no conclusive evidence that abstinence directly affects weight loss or fitness.
50 Cent is no stranger to transforming his body for different purposes. In 2010, he lost over 50 pounds for his role as a cancer patient in the movie “Things Fall Apart”. He later regained his weight and muscle mass for his role as a drug kingpin in the TV series “Power”.
The rapper, who is also known for his business ventures and philanthropy, has been working on several projects lately.
He is the executive producer of the “Power” spin-off series, “Power Book II: Ghost”, which premiered in September 2020. He is also developing a new series called “Black Mafia Family”, based on the true story of a drug trafficking organization.
