50 Cent has shown that his support for Taraji P. Henson is no fluke and to show his seriousness, he went on to cite Mary J. Blige’s pay from her role in Power as an example to make a case.

After Taraji told a news outlet that she had fired her entire staff for failing to capitalize on the success of the hit television program Empire, 50 Cent decided to take to social media to express his desire to support her.

To demonstrate his commitment to providing Taraji with a chance to rebuild her career, the Queens native posted a picture of himself in a restaurant on Instagram along with the statement, “STARZ paid Mary a nice salary to appear in the Power Universe.”

The Power and BMF stars posted a picture of themselves at a restaurant on Instagram. The caption of the photo stated that STARZ paid Mary a pretty good salary to be in the Power Universe.

“I was called today by someone who thought I was a joke! I wasn’t out here fvcking around about working with @tarajiphenson until I told them what I made STARZ pay @therealmaryjblige to be on GHOST.”

Mary’s first regular TV role to date is that of Monet Stewart Tejada in Power Book II: Ghost. She was reportedly paid more than what Henson was getting on Empire and was among the highest-paid women on television at $400,000 per episode.

50 Cent’s offer came about when Henson brought up the unequal pay in Hollywood, especially among women of color.

Taraji first brought up firing her team in an interview with Variety. The Oscar nominee claimed that while an Empire spin-off centered on Taraji’s character Cookie Lyons was in development, nothing came of it.

“Everyone had to fuck off.” What’s the deal? My commercial is missing. Cookie was at the top of the fashion game. Where’s my approval? After this, what were you expecting? You guys haven’t seen me in a while because of this. Nothing was set up for them. Their only desire was to see another Cookie show”.
