Renowned rapper 50 Cent, known for his outspoken nature, has once again taken to social media to voice his concerns. This time, the issue at hand is the escalating gun violence in Chicago.
On Monday, May 6, the rapper shared a news headline on Instagram that reported at least 31 people shot, six fatally, over the weekend in Chicago.
The G-Unit boss expressed his dismay over the tragic news, emphasizing that such violence needs to stop as it is not reflective of the gangster culture but is simply senseless and heartbreaking.
“Come on now, this gotta stop ✋🏿 this ain’t gangster, this is just crazy.”
The death toll from the weekend’s shootings, as reported by ABC 7 Chicago, has since risen to seven. This is not the first time 50 Cent has used his platform to comment on societal and political issues.
Recently, he criticized President Joe Biden’s proposed tax plans. The president’s proposal includes raising capital gains rates by 44.6% for those with a taxable income exceeding $1 million and investment earnings over $400,000.
The rapper expressed his disapproval of the plan, suggesting that the president needs to reconsider his approach.
50 Cent, whose real-life experiences with gun violence are well-known, was famously shot nine times in 2000.
He has spoken about the fear and discomfort he felt during his recovery. His personal experience with gun violence adds a layer of authenticity to his call for an end to such incidents.
50 Cent bashes Jason Derulo for defending Diddy over sexual assault allegations
Meanwhile, 50 Cent recently expressed displeasure with Jason Derulo’s defense of Diddy, who is currently embroiled in legal issues.
The tension came when Derulo was asked whether Diddy should be considered “innocent until proven guilty”
Derulo, who started his career by penning songs for Diddy, responded briefly, affirming his belief in innocence before guilt.
His comment did not sit well with 50 Cent, who has consistently mocked Diddy since Cassie first accused him.
