2024 Grammys: Killer Mike Sweeps Rap Categories, J Cole And Lil Durk Also Win

Rapper Killer Mike dominated the early portion of the 2024 Grammy Awards, picking up all three Grammys for which album “MICHAEL” was nominated.

Killer Mike, who released his critically acclaimed solo album MICHAEL in 2023, swept all three rap categories he was nominated for: Best Rap Album, Best Rap Song, and Best Rap Performance.

The album, which featured guest appearances from Andre 3000, 2 Chainz and Young Thug was hailed as a masterpiece of lyricism, production, and social commentary.

The lead single, Scientists & Engineers, was a collaboration with Andre 3000 and Future and showcased Killer Mike’s versatility and skill as a rapper. T

his was Killer Mike’s first time winning Grammys for his own work, although he had previously won as part of the duo Run The Jewels with El-P. They won Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group in 2003 for their song The Whole World with Outkast.

The 2024 Grammy Awards was a night to remember for rap fans, as some of the genre’s most celebrated artists took home the prestigious honors.

Killer Mike thanked his fans, his family, and his collaborators for their support and dedicated his awards to the late Nipsey Hussle, who was also nominated for Best Rap Album posthumously.

J Cole and Lil Durk also win at 2024 Grammys

J. Cole and Lil Durk also had a successful night, as they won Best Rap/Sung Performance for their hit song “All My Life”.

The song, which was released in 2023, was a tribute to their fallen friends and a celebration of their survival. The song featured vocals from R&B singer SZA, who also won Best R&B Album for her album CTRL.

Roc Nation cancels annual pre-Grammys brunch with the stars

Meanwhile, one of the most anticipated events of the Grammy weekend did not take place this year.

Jay-Z and his Roc Nation record label decided to cancel their annual pre-Grammy brunch, which has been a tradition since 2011.

The exclusive and star-studded party, which usually happens on the Saturday before the Grammy Awards, had been a highlight of the music industry. Over the years, the brunch has had celebrities such as Rihanna, Katy Perry, Kevin Hart, and Megan Thee Stallion, as well as Jay-Z and his wife Beyoncé.
