Donald Glover, preparing to release his sixth studio album, has secured two nominations ahead of the 2024 Emmy Awards, scheduled to air on Sunday, September 15, 2024.

The Emmy Awards honor the best TV series, actors, writers, and directors of the past year, as well as various technical achievements.

Donald Glover was nominated for his role in the movie Mr. & Mrs. Smith, which has 16 nominations in total. Donald Glover a.k.a Childish Gambino is contending for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series and Outstanding Writing for a Drama Series (with co-writer Francesca Sloane).

Other nominees for the awards are Jay-Z and Usher, who were nominated for “Outstanding Variety Special”. Singer Selena Gomez also competes for “Outstanding Lead Actress” in the comedy series Only Murders in the Building.

Television Academy chair, Cris Abrego, described the Emmy nominations as “a testament to their contributions and highlight the incredible programming that has risen to the top of an exceptional year in TV.”

Early this week, Donald Glover released the single In The Night, featuring English singer, Jorja Smith, and Ghanaian-American talent, Amaarae.

The melody precedes his upcoming album Bando Stone & The New World, which will be ready on Friday, July 19, 2024. The project, described as his “most eclectic material,” is said to be the last to be released under his moniker Childish Gambino.

The ‘Bando Stone & The New World’ album is the official soundtrack for a new movie of the same name. A trailer of the movie was released last week, pending the announcement of an official release date.

In May, Childish Gambino announced the release of the album Atavista, which was said to be “a “complete version” of a project released in 2020. He added the song Little Foot Big Foot to the compilation.
